He holds BSc. degree in zoology, botany and geography, Post-graduate diploma in education from Egerton University in Kenya, MSc. in Applied parasitology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and PhD in Medical entomology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
He has taught biology at secondary school and university level. His research experience in insect vector biology, transmission blocking and chemical ecology was acquired by working on: (i) larval control of malaria mosquitoes, (ii) targets for malaria transmission HOTspots, (iii) evaluation of multi-drug resistance in malaria mosquitoes and humans, (iv) manipulation of odour-based strategies for surveillance and disruption of host-seeking malaria and other mosquitoes and (v), assessment of infectious reservoir of malaria. Collins is a project Manager and Scientist on a malaria elimination program at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology in western Kenya.
My overall goal is to enhance the quality of human life by advancing my professional career in teaching, research and innovation. The research interest is mainly centred on epidemiology of infectious diseases in humans and animals, parasite and insect vector biology, transmission blocking studies and chemical ecology.
